To help you with local SEO, I put together this top 50 list of citation sources for your business or client’s business. Keep in mind the importance of NAP consistency in all your citations, or else you won’t get the full benefit of getting listed on these directories.
I can’t claim all the credit for this though, this list was just taken from one of my citation reports from Bright Local. Hardly any work on my part!

Bonus sources: Youtube slideshow videos and LinkedIn company pages are very powerful citation sources not listed in the top 50 but probably deserve to be in the top 10 due to the overall strength they carry.

Another very useful post. Thanks Nathan!
Glad you found it useful.
Fantastic post! I will be checking in to the resources mentioned.
Thanks Jon
Cheers for this list have a great day.
Thanks 🙂
Would you recommend hiring someone to carry
out the link outreach, or would you do it ourselves?
p.s Don’t take advice from the Warrior Forums lol
Well if it’s citations, that’s pretty easy to claim, there are actually some decent fiverr gigs that cover some citations. The rest, it’s pretty straight forward and easy to outsource, or you can semi-automate the process with a form automating plugin with your browser.
And yes… usually taking advice from Warrior Forum, ends badly LOL. Thanks for the comment Jenny!
Is there a good reason to pay for any citations? I sell life and disability insurance and just got the sales pitch from Manta for the $99 no $49 no $24 listing with ads?
YP shows up for life insurance in my area on all major search engines, first on Bing. Any idea if its worth even testing to see if it would be worth it? Is a premium citation worth more in the eyes of the search engines?
Thanks.
Hey Evan. No there really is no difference in the eyes of Google if you have a premium Manta listing or just a free one. I think the advantage comes with internal traffic, which YP may be worth trying out but I can’t see Manta being a wise use of money.
Nathan, I am a complete newbie at this and have June’s work to show for my efforts. I do not have a clue hoe to obtain a report such as you have shown. Also certain abbrevments you include in your blog are Greek to me. Personally I work on a daily basis given I must monetize it quickly since I am totally broke. I am just wondering whether people actually make money from this activity. To my uneducated eye your blog looks great.
Thanks for stopping by Melissa. What abbreviations are Greek to you? What’s your blog? Monetizing can be difficult, it seems the biggest problem though is developing a base of traffic and readers.
Any provider you recommend using to build great citations?
Hey Brian, I don’t really recommend anyone in particular. Bright Local has a decent service, along with Moz Local, you can also use Fiverr for some citations as well.
I don’t really believe there’s much difference between most providers, except that Fiverr is usually the fastest lol.
Hi Incomebully. for me one doubt can is use this citations for my local business like i am from India, these websites can help me or I want to build find some Indian directories to submit my website?
If you’re wanting to get traffic and leads for a local business in india, then indian directories are probably ideal. You can still use web 2.0s, youtube, press releases, etc. for unstructured citations. That could possibly provide better results than your standard business directory as well.
