Stop Wasting The Most Valuable Thing In Your Life

This is the final post in the 31 days of blogging challenge, and I hope it motivates and helps some of you that are struggling. This won’t be a super long, in depth wall of text that’s going to help you go from being mediocre to super-stardom but it can help you get going I hope.

The title of this post is appropriately named…

So what is the most valuable thing in your life?

The Most Valuable Thing In Your Life Is Time

I don’t care who you are, what you do, how much you make, there is a reason why people get paid salaries, or an hourly wage. It is value traded in the form of time… and guess what? Most people are wasting it.

Years and years ago I was in a really bad situation. I couldn’t afford rent, food, power, I couldn’t afford anything. In fact, I remember trying to stretch out $7, buying bread, cheese, peanut butter and jelly… $7 was what I had for food Of course I couldn’t afford internet, but luckily a nearby business had their wifi open.

I remember sitting in a shitty apartment I was about to lose, knowing I needed to do something. I was tired of the life I had built for myself, and wanted something just a little bit better. I remembered a previous job where I built some websites and at first I thought about going back there but then had the idea that I could do it myself, and sell them myself.

I didn’t know everything there was to know about building websites. In fact, so much had changed that I didn’t even really know how to build my own one at that point. I went along, google’d things I wasn’t sure of, posted in design and developer forums for help, and used my first site as the test dummy. I did it within a couple days, and got started.

I didn’t know anything about SEO. I didn’t know much about sales. I just knew I needed to do something. I didn’t waste time thinking I needed to know everything there is to know about something. In fact, I messed up on some potential sales because I didn’t know how to handle the situation or give the proper rebuttal… you can bet I learned from my mistakes every single time.

If I would have waited around for the perform storm of things falling into place, I would have been homeless.

If I would have waited around wanting to learn more and more before getting started, I never would have got started.

So my point here to those of you sitting around trying to find shortcuts, or waiting for you to have an “acceptable level of knowledge”, let me save you some time… you’re never going to find a shortcut to success. You’re never going to have an acceptable level of knowledge. These are just things you tell yourself as an excuse for your procrastination, fear of failure, or maybe even fear of success.

You are wasting time by trying to develop the perfect plan. There never will be a perfect plan. Education in your field never stops. What you thought would be a shortcut ends up being a dead end.

There’s no better education than experience.

Whatever it is you’re wanting to accomplish in life, or in business, just freakin’ do it, get going.

You can lose money and make money… you can lose time, but you can’t get it back no matter how hard you try. Make it worthwhile.
