November 2015 Income Report

Welcome to another IncomeBully Income Report! It seems like I just did one of these 2 weeks ago… and I guess I did!

Income reports aren’t exactly a new thing for a lot of bloggers, I’m not the first one to do this. The reason I’m doing it is to track the progress from the very beginning stages. It seems that a lot of the more popular blogs that have been doing income reports, started tracking income a while after building a presence.

My income reports, are a bit different. No waiting around to show fluffed up numbers to boost my ego. This in my opinion, is more beneficial to the readers here, but it’s also beneficial to me to break down each month and see what needs improvement, and what has worked to generate more traffic and income.

The income reported here is made 100% from the blog and “internet marketing”. It does not include consulting income, or offline income.

What Happened in November?

I posted a mid-November report since I’ve been on a hiatus for a while, working on other projects. I finished up on one of my major projects and now a lot of time has opened back up.

I still have another project near completion that has been eating some time up but that’s about finished.

Other than that, just a few things here and there in the offline world that aren’t really relevant to this blog.

Fortunately after my income report posted in the middle of the month, I was able to contribute 2 very detailed blog posts that I believe many will find quite beneficial if they do local SEO for themselves or for clients.

Those two posts were:

Local SEO Ranking Factors – Let’s Shed Some New Light which was about the yearly Moz Local SEO survey. I like that they publish it, but there’s a lot of problems with the results, not just this year but every year. I break it down and share my thoughts.

Reviews: The Understated Variable in Local SEO which is about reviews, obviously. The thing about reviews is that it’s not as simple as a couple one line reviews, there’s actually an algorithm used for reviews and in competitive markets they can be one of the largest difference makers when it comes to ranking.

Getting Back On Track

The plan was to still have regular content posted even while I had a major project I was working on. That plan didn’t happen.

Life happens. I’m dedicated to this blog, and dedicated to growing it and trying new things to generate a passive income online that doesn’t involve client work. It was stupid for me to not plan for periods in time where I may not have as much time available.

Knowing that this period in time isn’t going to be the last time I’ll be occupied with other things, I realized I need to take steps to prepare content ahead of time, and perhaps have some sort of schedule or structure for guest bloggers that can contribute top notch content. That is a priority going forward.

Let’s get to the fun stuff… the income and traffic breakdown.

November 2015 Income and Traffic

Here’s the breakdown.

My Ultimate Blueprint To Start a Web Agency
Ice Cold Email Gold – The Key to Cold Email Marketing Mastery
Total Self Created Product Income : $1,426

I just combined my two guides/courses as one income stream. In the year end report I will break down both of them by income.

Affiliate Income

Mobile Renegade – $135.18

Clicks Magazine – $8.50

Arvixe Web Hosting – $140

MyThemeShop – $48

TOTAL Affiliate Income – $331.68

Total Overall Income – $1,757.68

Looking at the income, it’s a bit depressing to see such a fall off, but it’s what I can expect considering the lack of attention the blog has seen.

However, just giving it a little bit of extra love in the last part of November, allowed the income to rise by about $500. Mobile Renegade Income, Arvixe, and even my products have seen an increase this month.

The problem is, I’m going to be discontinuing my support of Arvixe due to the massive turnaround in support, uptime and quality of service. Since it gives a higher commission than most offers, that’s going to be a big blow, especially because a lot of organic traffic comes to my Arvixe Review post. It’s pretty bad conversion rates as it is though, about 2-3% so maybe I can do better with a different offer!

This blog has a lot of content for being up for about a year now, I should be better diversified in affiliate offers and monetization along with other properties but I’ve been slacking and it’s time to turn that around!

Now off to the traffic portion.

OTHER METRICS FOR THE BLOG

Alexa Rank – 372,286

Twitter Followers – 1,258

Youtube Channel Subscribers – 45

Google+ Followers – Google+ has always been a ghost town for me, and I don’t really see that changing. In fact, I don’t think I should even be including this in these reports, but I will… 20.

Aweber Email Subscribers – 1190

More Metrics:

Unique Visitors – 2,331

Bounce Rate – 73.23%

Pages Per Session – 1.75

Average Time On Site – 2:01

I’ve seen a bit of decline, which is to be expected considering the lack of attention the blog has received by me. Twitter followers have fallen, Alexa Rank dropped quite a bit from September, but not much of a difference from my most recent income report. Minimal growth with the email list.. Unique visitors only slightly better.

See, this is one of the reasons I do these reports, and whatever your business is, you should be doing the same. Maybe not publicly but privately analyze what’s going on, what you’re doing, what you’re NOT doing, and see where you stand.

I could argue that this blog is still generating income with minimal involvement, and see it as a good thing. However, when you look at the data, I have not been doing good and seeing the decline forces me to see reality!

Here’s some data so you guys can see my progress month over month.

Plans For December

I don’t expect a massive turnaround just yet, and the month of December would probably be one of the worst to implement a huge turnaround plan! With holidays and everything, I don’t anticipate it being close to the previous month in income and I’m going to have to work hard just to match the poor traffic numbers of November.

I do have a few things planned though.

I will continue publishing content, I’m shooting for 4-5 new blog posts this month before really kicking into gear in January.

Get Ready For The New Year

While I don’t expect December to be a break-through month, I do expect this month to be very useful in setting me up for 2016.

I have a project near completion and once that’s finished, I can focus solely on blog related things.

Find Useful Affiliate Products

I’m so damn picky about what I promote. I need to set aside time to evaluate different software, tools, etc. that can be useful to readers here. I don’t recommend anything I will not use or have used, just for the commission.

One of the affiliate offers I need to find to promote will be hosting related because the hosting company I’ve been promoting (kind of) has started sucking. I ended up moving every site hosted there except one, and I’ll eventually move that as well. I’ve tested out a few different companies, and there’s one I really like but wouldn’t be good to promote due to their setup fee. We’ll have to wait and see.

Build Out A Few Affiliate Sites

I have a couple ideas on affiliate sites, not really related to this blog but I’ll post the progress here and eventually reveal the niche, and the website.

My goal this month is to build out at least one of those affiliate sites. I already have in mind what I’m going to do, what the domain is, etc. Under my current estimation, I should be able to generate at least an extra $100-200/mo with relatively little work involved up front, and should be passive income for a long time if it all works out.

Final Thoughts

It’s good to be back and focusing on the blog again. With only a little more time left on a project I’ve been working on, I should be able to start seeing good movement here.

Setbacks don’t have to be permanent. A big part of success with no matter what you’re doing, is understanding that road blocks or setbacks are temporary obstacles. Too many people get discouraged and give up just because of a few setbacks. That’s not the road to success!

See you guys next time…
