Business & Marketing Shortcuts: What YOU Need To Know!

Everyone that is in business, and everyone that is in marketing, has something in common. We all, at one point and in many points in our journey are looking for shortcuts. Some shortcuts that result in better performance, time management, day to day operations, and even revenue generation.

I remember when I first started out I was looking for shortcuts in lead generation, shortcuts to make money faster without really doing anything different. I had some small successes for sure, but I also had big failures.

There are some shortcuts you should be looking for and other shortcuts that are just going to cause you problems.

Building a Business…Not a Hustle

The first thing you need to get into your head is that you are trying to build a business, not a hustle. When I say hustle, I mean something you can do to generate cash every now and then. For example, a side hustle I’ve done is go to yard sales and find things for cheap that I can resell at a higher price using Craigslist.

You can make a decent chunk of change doing that but it’s not a business. You have no asset to sell, you have no sustainable growth with a side hustle.

This is a mistake a lot of people make from what I can tell when it comes to making money online and offline. People lose focus because they’re looking for a short term gain instead of looking for long term growth for your business.

When you’re wanting to start a business, you need to think long term, growth, assets that you can eventually sell or have it run without you.

Sometimes people have the best intentions and they’re on track to build a business but they get sucked into the day to day operations without focusing on the growth of the company. This can be disastrous because growth gets stunted, you’re focusing on maintaining instead of growing, and you end up trading your time for dollars.

You may have a business but if you can’t focus on growth while implementing systems and processes that can be repeated by others, then you really have a business that turned into a full time hustle.

What does this have to do with shortcuts?

It has a lot to do with it actually. If you’re building a business, you shouldn’t be looking for shortcuts or side hustles when it comes to revenue. You should be looking at shortcuts that allow you to free up some money, free up some time, and allow you to grow your company.

When you think of shortcuts, think about automation. What can you automate to make it easier for you to focus on your business instead of doing little tedious things? Bookkeeping? Project Management? Are you using a CRM?

Look for some quick wins when it comes to operational tasks.

Marketing Strategy NOT Marketing Gimmicks.

Another thing a lot of people seem to get caught up with is the abundance of courses, products and gimmicky marketing tactics, looking for a short cut to generating leads.

Some of these tactics, are similar to the previous section… in the sense that they are trying to develop a hustle instead of implementing a REAL marketing strategy.

There’s nothing wrong with trying things out, but if you’re running a business, you need to focus on the proven methods to generate revenue, not unproven, hyped up methods that promise you the world while delivering you nothing more than a charge to your debit card.

Your priority should always be the tried and true methods that you can expect REAL results from. This isn’t to say to ignore the new mediums or new methods to market and generate leads, but keep that in the smaller section of your time budget.

Final Thoughts

There are no guaranteed shortcuts in life or in business. If you think running a business is easy, and doesn’t require a lot of work then you’re going to find yourself in some bad situations.

Business doesn’t have to be unpleasant, it doesn’t have to consume your entire life but it is going to require time, effort, and money in order to grow, and to successfully achieve your goals.

You won’t find a shortcut that allows you to go from 0 to 10k… or 0 to 100k. Those are nice dreams, but it’s gimmicky, it’s not real, and those “shortcuts” usually exist in product form that makes the creator money, and separates the money from you.

I created a blueprint for marketers and web designers. It’s no get rich quick scheme, it’s not something that allows you to make money while you sleep without doing anything else, but it is a quality product that will give the direction you need. It doesn’t do the work for you but it can open your eyes and allow you to grow your business. You can click here to get The Ultimate Guide To Starting Your Own Web Agency.
