Income Report: June 2015

This is the monthly post where I provide a recap of the last month and display the income this blog has made and other things I’m pursuing online. This blog allows you guys to see first hand what works and what doesn’t.

There are a couple reason I’m doing this:

  1. I want a more passive income than agency work, so I can live life the way I feel I should live it!
  2. I want to help others out in their agency, business, or online and offline endeavors.
  3. I enjoy sharing knowledge and have started to enjoy blogging!

There are many other reasons as well, but these are the main things. The income reports displayed on the blog only reflect this blog’s income, and in the future will reflect income from niche sites, affiliate sites, etc. This of course doesn’t reflect offline income from clients or any other business offline.

July is here an I’m happy to post another income and traffic report. Each month, it seems I’m still surprised by how fast the time has gone. This month was probably my biggest struggle when it comes to balancing life, business, blog, and everything else.

So lets get to it…

What Happened In June?

Looking back at the month of June, I had trouble staying in balance. I started the month off strong but ended up having to do a lot of work for my Ice Cold Email Gold Launch date. I didn’t try to get affiliates, but a lot of you pre-ordered so it was something I NEEDED to get out.

When working on the final touches of Ice Cold Email Gold, I had a lapse in blogging. After the release, I still wasn’t blogging very much.

Maybe it was a slight case of burn out. However, I was spending a lot of time looking into how I can grow this blog faster, and better.

So what did I do?

I launched Ice Cold Email Gold

This was a really in depth guide on how to generate clients, sales, leads etc. through cold email marketing. There was a lot of technical stuff I needed to include and I spent a good chunk of time putting this together. So far, the feedback has been very good and I look forward to continue promoting it as well as making updates to improve the guide.

Last month, I talked about one of my goals being to get this product listed in JVzoo after releasing it, but I haven’t done that yet. I’m curious to see the difference that makes when it comes to sales. I know I need to try it out, maybe this month?

Announced another 31 Days of Blogging

After realizing my slump in content creation, I know I needed a push and that’s why I announced another run of the 31 days of blogging. It’s not just for me, it can be for you as well… head over to that post and let me know if you’re “in” or not.

It’s kind of crazy how fast I felt things falls off. In the beginning of the month I had great traffic, and while my traffic was still pretty good in the last week and a half of the month, it was definitely impacted by the lack of new content. A big drop in comparison.

I also feel like my writing has been lacking. I’m not a professional writer, but just when it comes to blog posts I feel the brief time off has made it more difficult for me to come up with ideas, formulating content, and even setting a “voice” for my blog content.

I guess it’s true that repetition is really what separates beginners from those that are more advanced or even professionals. This is kind of De Ja Vu from when I trained in MMA for a little bit (not long at all). One of the trainers was a world class performer in Brazilian Jujitsu. He told me that the main thing that separates amateurs from professionals, in any field, is that the pros do the basics perfectly, and it comes from repetition.

A little off base I guess, but it just reaffirms the position that once you have a foundation, repetition really takes you to a more advanced level. I have seen it first hand even with something as small and simple sounding as blogging.

After seeing a 154% increase in traffic last time I did the 31 days of blogging, it only makes sense that I should do it again, not just for traffic, but increased engagement, list building and to work on my own skills.

New Weekly Post Type Added

Some of you may have noticed I started implementing a new post type in the month of June. Nothing ground breaking or earth shattering, just a weekly round up including links to the posts I published, but also other posts or content I found useful and wanted to share with you.

Someone asked me if the roundups help with SEO, and asked why I’m doing it.

My logic behind implementing this, is that yeah I guess more internal links are good, but it’s also a chance for me to email blog subscribers and give them an overview of the previous week. So it does slightly help engagement levels on the blog.

As for it helping with SEO, I suppose it does indirectly help, but more so with the overall marketing plan of the blog. If I include someone’s content, and let them know as well as ask them to tweet it or link to it, that helps me. That helps increase my overall visibility, whether it’s something as simple as twitter retweets, or a link from one of their blog posts. Even if they don’t tweet or link to the roundup, it helps me build relationships with other people.

June 2015 Income Analysis

Here’s the breakdown:

My Ultimate Blueprint To Start a Web Agency
Ice Cold Email Gold Launch
Total Self Created Product Income : $2,874

Due to being a little pressed for time and not wanting to go through a spreadsheet, I just listed the combined total of both products.

Affiliate Income
Mobile Renegade  $292.96
Clicks Magazine $17
Arvixe Web Hosting $140

TOTAL Affiliate Income $449.96 (+49.06)

Amazon Affiliate Niche Site – $54.31 (-19.69)

Total Overall Income – $3378.27 (+$548.37)

This is a nice little increase over last month, both in total income and also affiliate income. I have some weaknesses though when it comes to affiliate income, which I’ve been saying all along. I don’t hold many products, services, or other affiliate offerings in high regard. This is going to limit my earning potential when it comes to affiliate products.

I’ve been making money off the same affiliate products each month. This is a problem. Other products I tend to recommend have awfully low conversion rates. It’s time to expand what I recommend, so the month of July I’m going to go through everything that I use, see if there’s affiliate programs for it, and also ask to try out and review other products I think would be useful.

The majority of the income so far on the blog has been through my own, created products. This is a nice asset to have, and even my Ultimate Guide to Start a Web Agency has been earning a steady (even though slightly declining) income since the initial launch.

It’s time to make moves though and see significant increases in income… which I will be working harder towards in the next few months.

Other Blog Metrics

Alexa Rank – 377,461  (Last Month was – 537,433)

Twitter Followers – 970 (This time last month was at 573. 69.28% increase.)

Youtube Channel Subscribers – 31 (Last month was 26…19.2% increase)

Google+ Followers – Last month, I actually lost a follower which brought me down to 11! Embarrassing. Now I’m at 18, which is still embarrassing but it’s a 63% increase so I’ll take it!

Aweber Email Subscribers – 755 (611 last month which makes this a 23.5% increase which seems to be about average on a monthly basis)

More Metrics:

Unique Visitors – 9,830 (That’s an increase of 53%)

Bounce Rate – 61.4%

Pages Per Session – 1.82

Average Time On Site – 1:58

I’m happy with the results this month, not only did I see an increase in revenue but my traffic increased as well. Behavioral metrics aren’t where I want them to be, and I think some of the traffic I’ve been receiving hasn’t been as “quality” as I want, so that probably effects some of those metrics.

What it comes down to though, is traffic, and conversions. I want subscribers, and as long as I continue to grow that number, then I’m a happy camper! More subscribers ultimately means more traffic and more revenue, assuming I can monetize properly.

As I mentioned before in previous income reports is that social traffic has the highest subscriber conversions for me. Almost 2x more than any other source of traffic. It’s also my lowest traffic source, but hopefully I can change that. I don’t use Google+ much except for the community feature to share content, and I haven’t started a facebook page yet, so my social traffic mostly consists of Google+ and Twitter. I do get some visitors from facebook but it has nothing to do with anything I’m doing myself, other than publishing content! I will continue having to improve my social traffic.

Here’s some data so you guys can see my progress month over month.

How Did I Do On My Goals?

Increase to 700 Subscriber list in Aweber – Goal was met, with 755 subscribers. However, I’m going to do some list cleanup soon and the number will probably go down a bit. Not sure if I will do that this month or some other time. Either way, accomplishing this goal was very important and I’m glad I was able to do it.

Get up to 800 Twitter Followers – As you know, I’m planning to start focusing more on social traffic, and growing my twitter following is going to be a very important step when it comes to that. I got to nearly 1,000 followers, so I definitely met this goal.

Double My Social Traffic – Goal failed. In fact, I had slightly less (like 2% less) social traffic this month in comparison to May. This will be a goal for July as well, and I intend on accomplishing it.

Increase Alexa Rank to Top 450K – Goal met… I must admit, I was thinking this would be pretty hard since where I am right now is hard to move up without a significant increase in traffic. However, I made it to top 377k. I don’t hold much stock in Alexa as an important metric, but it is fun to track.

List My Ultimate Blueprint WSO in JVZOO – It seems like this would be such an easy goal but I failed. I just didn’t do it. No excuses, no real reason why I didn’t. I should have done it but I didn’t. I believe this would also improve my sales, even if it were just a small percentage through affiliates. Even something as small as 10%, is still 10% growth and also adds to my list. It’s stupid of me to keep pushing this off.

Have a Record Month in Traffic, 7K+ Uniques – Goal met, and CRUSHED! I was very close to 10k unique visitors. Growth is good!

Create a New Lead Magnet – FAILED! No reason to expand on it… just didn’t set enough time aside to do it.

Work on Autoresponder Series – FAILED! Improving it will allow me to probably have better revenue but I haven’t invested the time yet.

Promote My Amazon Affiliate Site More – Absolutely FAILED. I can’t get excited about this site… No new content, not a single link, not a single inkling of promotional effort in May. It still made some money though, so that’s cool. I need to improve it… maybe I just need to sell it?

Plans For July

Well, as you know I’m doing the 31 days of blogging for the month of July. I guess this income report is day 1, it should be exciting to see what the next 30 days of content will be like!

I have some improvement plans for the blog. As some of you have noticed, I added a related content section under my lead magnets/ CTA’s. I also want to add a couple banners and just improve a few things. Maybe going back and tagging past posts, manually recommending “related content” with the plugin I used, and also improving the way my lead magnets display on phones.

I also plan to launch a new niche site, possibly two new sites this month. This will be pretty difficult since I’m already doing the 31 days of blogging. One niche site will be another blog, I’m not sure if I will have a partner in this or not, but either way it’s getting done! It will be in the “survival” niche. The other site will be a membership site that offers unlimited proxies. A lot of the people using Mobile Renegade will likely be interested in that!

So, big plans for July, and there’s the 4th of July holiday + my birthday, so this will probably be my most challenging month yet.

Goals For July

I’m pretty satisfied that I met many goals I had for the month of June. There are a few goals that I slacked on and it sucks that I didn’t pay closer attention to them. I could have had a much better month than I did. Anyway, here are the goals for July.

  • Break 10K Unique Visitors For the First Time
  • 1,300 Twitter Followers
  • Top 250k Alexa Ranking
  • 900 Email Subscribers
  • Launch Niche Blog
  • Launch Proxy Membership Site
  • Double Social Traffic
  • Successfully Complete 31 days of blogging

Sounds pretty easy, but at the same time these are all things that help with the growth of this blog and my online income. All the metric related goals, I really hope to crush it hard.

Will I? Come back August 1st and find out!
